CBD key figures in France

Since it is allowed to consume CBD in France, more and more products are coming on the market. But how do the French stand with regard to this cannabinoid? Discover the figures of CBD in France.

Number of CBD consumers

6 million, this is the number of consumers seduced by the CBD. This represents about 10% of the French population, and this figure continues to increase. The CBD therefore arouses real interest among the French! However, it is still located still below that of our European neighbors, with an average at 16 %.

Who are the consumers?

If the men represent 70 % of CBD consumers, More and more women are attracted to CBD-based products. A difference which is felt especially in the type of products consumed. Women are more likely to use oils, cosmetics or infusions, while men consume mainly flowers, of the truffles CBD or e-liquids.

In terms of age, what does it give?

In terms of age, the consumer panel is very wide, and that's good! Most of the converted CBDs are between 25 and 34 years old, 28% of them are between 35 and 44 years old and only (or already?) 8% are seniors. On the other hand, young consumers (under 25) are almost absent from the CDBIC scene.

Legalization of cannabis: for or against?

While 8 out of 10 French people say they are favorable to legalization cannabis on our territory, they are however 33% to consider CBD as a drug. This figure indicates that it is important to inform and educate the population as to the composition of products and effects. 

CBD in a therapeutic framework

Since September 2020, 3000 patients suffering from serious illnesses or that suffer from side effects of chemotherapy and for whom drugs have no effect, test oil or CBD flowers to relieve their ailments. Perhaps the first door which opens towards the legalization of cannabis for therapeutic use within France ...

Legal rate of THC

Since January 2022, the authorized THC rate in various CBD products has increased from 0.2 to 0.3%. In such a low dose, THC does not produce any psychotic effect on the body. On the other hand, this is enough to enjoy the benefits of THC.
